Why this course?
Current dominant agricultural practices have significant adverse impacts on soil health, water, biodiversity and human health. While many alternatives described as “sustainable” exist, there is no broad consensus on what sustainability truly means or how to evaluate these practices in terms of both ecological and socioeconomic outcomes.
Through this course, we aim to fill that gap by providing a comprehensive and balanced understanding — not just of “packages-of-practice,” but of the scientific principles, diverse approaches (organic, natural, permaculture, deep ecology), and real-world implications at the farmer and community level. Participants will gain insight into soil & seed systems, pest & disease management, farm economics, farmer behaviour, and the broader challenges of scaling sustainable agriculture.
Who should apply?
The course is designed for founders, senior government officials, civil society practitioners, consultants, and rural livelihood professionals. It welcomes both individuals and organisations working across agriculture, environment, rural development, and allied sectors.
