Seed village program, 2002-05, funded by AEI, Luxembourg

Objectives:
  • To form women seed village network with self help groups.
  • To create awareness on the importance of seed among the farmers
  • To give training on seed production and marketing.
  • To popularise pest and disease tolerant traditional varieties of seeds
  • A greater productive use of traditional knowledge and practices including innovative approaches widely adopted by farmers as alternatives to corporate dependent system on seed.
  • Awareness building on the impact of WTO on seed and seed rights (PBR and IPR)
  • Campaign against GM varieties.
  • Globalisation and its effects on seed marketing
  • Establish a framework through which NGOs can continue to improve their capacity, raise awareness, network, advocacy and lobbying to influence seed policy.
